Hiking at Nechako Lodge

Hikers, birders and wildlife enthusiasts will find the most popular trails in our region all within easy access of the lodge.

Cut-Off Butte is a relatively short hike - offering a view of the hills, lakes and forests of the Nechako Plateau. At the summit, hidden in a rock cairn, you will find a guest book, which you should sign and enjoy by reading some of the commentary of other visitors who have come before.

Cheslatta Falls is another popular destination and only a short half-day's excursion. One of its highlights is an archeological site with ancient house pits. The ancient Carrier People used them as way stations during their journeys along their trading routes from North to South. Many of these historic trails have been restored recently, so that you can enjoy the solitude and beauty of the area.

The historic Alexander Mackenzie Heritage Trail and the hikes in the breathtaking alpine wilderness of Tweedsmuir Provincial Park are very popular with trekkers from around the world. With our floatplane we can access the different trailheads very easily.

Whatever your desire, Nechako Lodge can accommodate your needs. Want a short hike - then take off after a gourmet lunch and we will have a piping hot dinner waiting for you when you return in the evening. We can fly you into Tweedsmuir Park and pick you up when you request - later that afternoon, or the next morning. A little leery of venturing out on your own? In that case Nechako Lodge can provide knowledgeable guides to assist you. The lodge will provide you with all the supplies you need, and look for a special treat in your food supplies.

Your hike will be a safe and memorable experience
